team-defaults 0.1.0 — shared Claude Code defaults, shipped as a plugin

Shawn's personal ~/.claude/ agents and global rules are now installable by the whole team through the agentics marketplace, replacing hand-copied dotfiles with a versioned plugin.

Why

The team was sharing Claude Code configuration by hand-copying files out of one person's home directory — no versioning, no updates, no way to know what changed. Since this repo already runs a plugin marketplace, the shareable pieces were packaged as a plugin: semver, a changelog, and a one-command install.

What shipped

ComponentWhat it does
ts-commenterAgent — TypeScript/JSDoc documentation specialist, optimized for AI-assistant comprehension. Auto-discovered on install.
css-generatorAgent — extracts design tokens from images into CSS custom properties and utility classes.
sync-rulesSkill — installs the bundled team rules into ~/.claude/rules/. Diffs first, reports a sync plan, and asks per file before overwriting anything. Never touches rules it doesn't ship.

Bundled rules: plan-mode.md (plus the plan skeleton), component-driven-ui.md, typescript-jsdoc.md, and review-bot-loops.md.

Deliberately excluded

Left outReason
ticket-creator agentHardwired to the astro-basics project — not a default that applies everywhere.
Vendored skillsvercel-*, mcp-builder, playwright-cli, etc. are third-party; teams should install them from their original sources.
validate-plan-filename hookAlready ships with the plan-agent plugin; the bundled plan-mode rule now points there instead of a home-directory path.

Decisions a reviewer should know

Rules travel inside the skill, not as a plugin component. Claude Code plugins have no native "rules" type (only commands, skills, agents, hooks), so the rule files ship as the sync-rules skill's payload and are copied into place on demand — with confirmation, since the destination holds each person's own rules too.

The payload lives at skills/sync-rules/rules/, not top-level rules/. The dist builder's KEEP allowlist was silently dropping a top-level rules/ directory (5 files gone from the published build). Nesting under skills/ ships everything with zero build-script changes.

Verification

Review trail

  1. Codex flagged tools: inherit in the ts-commenter frontmatter P2 — valid
Correct catch: omitting tools is how a subagent inherits the parent's tools; inherit isn't a valid value. Fixed in 888e46c, thread replied to and resolved.
  2. Copilot and CodeRabbit posted rate-limit notices, twice no findings
Quota/limit banners, not review feedback. Per the team's review-bot-loops rule, no action was taken and the PR merged once the substantive finding was fixed.

How to install

/plugin marketplace add shawn-sandy/agentics
/plugin install team-defaults@agentics-kit

Then say "sync team rules" in any session. The skill shows what's new, what's identical, and what conflicts with your local rules before writing a single file.
